Chhattisgarh persuades private investment in rural health sector

Chhattisgarh government would provide grants to the private hospitals willing to set up medical infrastructure in the rural pockets of the state.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had sought the cooperation of the private sector for further strengthening the health facilities in the rural areas. He said that services of the private sector would be taken to facilitate people in the rural areas to get medical advice from specialist doctors. Besides, the state government is also focussing on expanding the health services in all government hospitals, and development of health infrastructure.

State government would provide subsidies to the private sectors especially for the construction of hospitals in rural areas. The Chief Minister had directed the Industry Department to prepare an action plan within the next 10 days for the grant subsidy to the investors.

In the last two and a half years, the State Government has taken a number of steps to improve and enhance health services in rural areas of the state, but still the availability of specialist doctors in small district headquarters and block headquarters remains a challenge. Baghel had given instructions for expansion and strengthening of health infrastructure from the capital city to rural areas, to ensure that the state is ready to deal with the changing nature of the corona pandemic and to provide the best health services to people of the state.

The Chief Minister said that support and cooperation of the private sector were important for the expansion of health infrastructure and improvement in facilities of all the government hospitals, especially in rural areas. He added that grants and subsidies would be provided for setting up of industries in the state.
