Trump, a republican, is facing a tough competition from Joe Biden, a democratic nominee as the US goes to the polls in November. High-decibel equation between the two leaders had given the Indo-US relationship a veneer of warmth and camaraderie.
In the diplomatic circle, experts were exploring was there any reason to believe Biden would be unfriendly with India if elected. The democratic candidate himself cleared the doubts.
Joe Biden administration will place a “high priority” on continuing to strengthen the India-US relationship, his campaign said on Saturday, asserting that no common global challenge could be solved without the two countries working as responsible partners.
The Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden even hinted of supporting India in the United Nations for the security council seat. “If elected to power in the November elections, will help India get a permanent seat on the Security Council,” said former American ambassador to India Richard Verma.
In a major policy document on Indian-Americans, the campaign said Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden believes there can be no tolerance for terrorism in South Asia, cross-border or otherwise.
