Trinamool Congress leader Mukul Roy’s son had tried to bail out his father from the controversial statement and termed it a development related to his neuro problem.

Roy, who crossed over to the BJP before the state polls and later returned to the parent TMC on Friday commented that the saffron party would win the coming by-poll in the state. Soon after realising the mistake, Roy immediately corrected himself saying he actually meant the TMC.

Subhranshu, Roy’s son, told a news channel that his father was forgetting things due to a chemical imbalance in his body and is suffering from depression after his wife’s death. Roy’s wife has passed away a month back.

“There is immense sodium potassium imbalance in my father’s body, that is leading to lot of problems. He is forgetting everything. This has started with my mother’s death. We are really concerned about his health. His words should not be blown out of proportion,” he added.

The BJP did not miss the opportunity to score over politically and said that he had “unwittingly spoken the truth”. The TMC had however played down the development though the video was largely circulated in the social media.
