New Delhi, January 1
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday took a veiled dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, responding to his New Year’s tweet with a question: “Are you back from Milan?”
Rahul Gandhi is on a personal visit to Italy, the Congress spokesperson had said.
Welcoming the New Year, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi castigated the BJP-led Central government and said his heart is with the farmers and labourers who are fighting ‘unjust forces’.
In his New Year’s greeting, Rahul Gandhi wished everyone a “happy new year”, remembering those “we lost” and who “protect” and “sacrifice for us”.
“My heart is with the farmers and labourers fighting unjust forces with dignity and honour,” Rahul Gandhi wrote in his tweet.
He reiterated his support for the thousands of farmers who have been protesting for over a month against the new agricultural laws passed by parliament in September.
On the eve of New Year, Rahul Gandhi flew to Milan; giving a miss to Congress’ 136th foundation day celebration. The BJP had taken a swipe at the Congress leader for flying abroad and missing not only the party’s function but also farmers’ strike that he has been backing.
