Under the corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative of Rajasthan Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL), Adani Foundation on Friday donated a school bus to Saraswati Shishu Mandir located in Lakhanpur of Surguja district.
At a special function held at the school premises, Chief Guest and Additional Chief Engineer of RRVUNL Babulal Verma cut the ribbon and handed over the necessary documents of the bus to the Principal of the school, Mrs. Madhu Pandey. The new 20-seater school bus was provided to the school with the objective to ensure safe and convenient travel for 82 children from a total of 11 villages including villages Bharatpur, Ganeshpur, Jhanwarpara, Kosanga, etc. around Lakhanpur.
The Deputy Chief Engineer of RVUNL Lalchand Baresah, Cluster HR Head of Adani Enterprises, Sarguja, Ram Dwivedi, Head of Land Department Rajesh Sao, Head of Adani Foundation Sarguja, Ashok Panda, and Amit Rai were present on the occasion. Besides, District Panchayat Member and Administrator Vijay Agarwal, Nagar Panchayat President Representative Dinesh Sahu, Nagar Panchayat Vice President Sunny Bansal, Ward Councillor Rakesh Sahu, Saraswati Shishu Mandir President Ashish Mangal, Sunil Agarwal, Saurabh Agarwal, school teachers and a large number of students were present.
In consultation with the local MLA Rajesh Agarwal, the school bus has been purchased by the Adani Foundation at a cost of about Rs 20 lakh under the social concern of RRVUNL’s Parsa East Kente Basan coal mine.
Addressing the program, Babulal Verma said, “RVUNL is committed to the development of the region. I hope that the operation of this bus will provide a safe means of transportation to the students studying in the surrounding rural areas.” At the end of the program, the school management expressed its gratitude and thanks to RVUNL and Adani Foundation.
RVUNL has undertaken a series of infrastructural development works in the region, keeping in mind the major needs of the 14 villages near the mine, including repair and painting of government schools, construction of additional classrooms and concrete toilets, construction of roads in the village and repair and beautification of passenger waiting rooms, etc. Also, to promote environmental sustainability, more than 15 lakh trees have been planted in more than 450 hectares of mined land.
