New Delhi, July 13
Uttar Pradesh state elections appear to be the agenda of a meeting between poll strategist Prashant Kishor and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi.
Almost after five years, Kishor today walked into the residence of Rahul Gandhi. And came out after spending three hours with the Congress leader. Congress General secretaries Priyanka Vadra Gandhi and K C Venugopal were also present in the meeting.
The corridor of power was busy establishing links. While a few said it was related to defusing the Punjab Congress crises, others said the two discussed the ensuing Uttar Pradesh elections though Kishor’s strategy failed in the last poll.
A few days ago, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh had met Kishor in New Delhi. It was Kishor who was instrumental in the induction of Navjot Sidhu in the Congress. Now, Singh and Sidhu are up in arms against each other; putting the Congress in a fix as the state gears up for polls.
The political observers however feel that the agenda of Kishor’s meeting with Rahul was beyond Punjab. Besides the Punjab crisis, the UP election was reportedly the centre of discussion as Priyanka was set to start her election campaign in the state later this week.
