Air India flight skids off runway

Jabalpur, March 12

A major air crash was averted when a runway excursion occurred at Jabalpur Airport in Madhya Pradesh today.

An Alliance Air ATR-72 aircraft, with around 55 passengers and five crew members onboard from Delhi, went off the runway at Jabalpur’s Dumna airport Saturday afternoon. The airport officials and the rescue team rushed to the spot soon after the incident and evacuated the passengers.

Officials said all passengers were safe and shifted to the arrival hall at the Jabalpur airport.

India’s civil aviation regulatory body – the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has ordered an investigation into the case.
