Ajay Kumar Singh, a 1989 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Jharkhand cadre, has been appointed as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Jharkhand.
The Jharkhand government issued the notification in this regard on Tuesday night (February 14).
Singh would succeed Neeraj Sinha, IPS of 1987 batch of Jharkhand cadre, who retired on Saturday. The post of Jharkhand DGP was lying vacant as the state government was considering three names for the coveted post.
Ajay Bhatnagar, who is on deputation with the CBI, MD of Police Housing and DG ACB Ajay Kumar Singh and Rail ADG Anil Palta were among the top runners.
The state government finally picked Ajay Kumar Singh, who was currently posted as MD of Jharkhand Police Housing Corporation. He was also holding the additional charge of ACB DG.
