Samajwadi Party (SP) Chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said the BJP-led NDA would be defeated in the next year’s general elections by the “PDA”.

The PDA stands for Pichde, Dalit, Alpasankhyak (Backward Classes, Dalits, Minorities), Yadav said today at an NDTV Conclave in Lucknow. Yadav also hit out at the BJP government in the state and alleged that it has failed to bring development while the law-and-order situation has deteriorated.

Skipping pointed questions on his party’s view of a grand united Opposition front to take on NDA in the 2024 elections, Yadav asserted that his only slogan for Uttar Pradesh had been “Assi harao, BJP hatao (Defeat 80, Remove BJP)”.

“The BJP will be defeated in all 80 Lok Sabha seats in UP if bigger national parties back us,” Akhilesh Yadav said. He has always maintained that the seat distribution should be decided keeping in mind whichever alliance partner is strongest in a particular state.

The SP leader cited his party’s earlier alliances with the Congress and Mayawati’s BSP for the state and national elections and claimed that Samajawadi Party has always been an honest and accommodating alliance partner.

“Wherever SP has been in alliance, you wouldn’t hear of us fighting over seats,” he said.
