Amit Shah hints in Chhattisgarh, stringent action against Maoists as last resort

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the government was adopting a comprehensive three-pronged strategy to achieve the goal of completely eradicating Left-wing Extremism (LWE) from the country.

Firstly, those willing to renounce violence and rejoin the mainstream of society are being welcomed, Shah said. Secondly, efforts are being intensified to apprehend those who refuse to abandon the path of violence. Lastly, strict action will be taken against individuals’ intent on harming others, ensuring they face the full force of justice, Shah said.

The Home Minister shared significant progress in this regard, stating that, within a year, 287 Naxalites were neutralized, approximately 1,000 were arrested, and 837 surrendered in Chhattisgarh. This underscores the government’s unwavering resolve to restore peace and security in the region.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, on the second day of his Bastar visit, met the families of the soldiers martyred in the Maoist violence at Amar Vatika today in Jagdalpur on Monday. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and State Home Minister Vijay Sharma besides senior officials were present on the occasion.

He also interacted with the civilians affected in the brutal act of the rebels. The Union Home Minister, while talking to the families, said that they have lost their family members in a long and painful battle and the pain cannot be reduced. The Central and State Governments are with them.

The Union Home Minister commended the Chhattisgarh government for establishing a memorial to honour the 1,399 martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice in their valiant struggle against Naxalism. He expressed hope that this memorial would not only pay tribute to these heroes but also inspire future generations.

The Home Minister shared significant progress in anti-LWE operations, stating that, within a year, 287 Naxalites were neutralized, approximately 1,000 were arrested, and 837 surrendered in Chhattisgarh. This underscores the government’s unwavering resolve to restore peace and security in the region. “After March 31, 2026, not a single drop of blood will be shed in the name of Naxalism on the sacred land of Maa Danteshwari,” Shah said.

The Chhattisgarh government has reserved one day in a week in the office of Inspector General of Police to listen to the problems of the families of the martyrs. Appreciating the initiative of the government, he said that the Collector should also be present in the IG office and be a part of this campaign.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that the martyrdom of the family members will not go in vain. The Central and Chhattisgarh Government will together take care of their interests. The government is determined to do whatever is best for all of them.

Sai said that it was a matter of great happiness for them that every time their soldiers have got success on the Naxal front, the Union Home Minister has boosted their morale and has always patted their back. “Even today, he has come to encourage you and to congratulate you for your courage and determination,” he said, adding that the Chhattisgarh Government will install statues in the villages of the martyred soldiers to preserve their memories.
