Raipur, January 7
Giving an overt signal that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would contest the assembly elections in Chhattisgarh on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s face, Union Home Minister Amit Shah today lashed out at the Congress government over the issue of corruption.
Shah landed in Korba on a short visit and offered prayer at the famous Sarvamangala temple before arriving at the Indira stadium to address a public meeting that is seen as an unofficial launch of BJP’s election campaign in Chhattisgarh that goes to the polls later in the year. He launched a frontal attack on Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and charged that the state government was indulged only in corruption.
He pointed out a serious shady deal in the use of DMF (district mineral foundation) Fund that was formulated by the Narendra Modi government for the development of tribal and backward areas using share of corporate’s profit.
Asserting that Chhattisgarh received a whopping Rs 9234 crore under the DMF head, Shah asked where the fund had gone? He said he had the answer and one could verify by visiting the houses of Congressmen in the villages. “Those riding mopeds are maintaining Audi cars,” he said, adding that those living under tin shed are owning three-storey buildings. The entire DMF money was lost to corruption, Shah said.
He added that the 15-year-rule of BJP saw a lot of development in Chhattisgarh. But the Congress government did nothing. Hinting that the Centre was keeping a close eye on the alleged corruption, the Union Home Minister said they would take care of it as people’s money cannot be looted so easily.
He urged the people to press the lotus button on the electronic voting machine to elect the BJP government in Chhattisgarh and teach a lesson. Hinting that Modi would be the face of BJP in Chhattisgarh, Shah asked the BJP cadre and people to elect the BJP government in Chhattisgarh in 2023 if they wanted Narendra Modi to become Prime Minister again in 2024.
