Amitava Mukherjee gets additional charge as NMDC CMD

Director (Finance) of National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) Limited Amitava Mukherjee has been given the additional charge of Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of the company till November 2025.

The Ministry of Steel on Monday issued the order in this connection. “It is hereby informed that Ministry of Steel, Government of India vide Order No. 3/2/2021-BLA (Part 1) dated 30.12.2024 has communicated that the additional charge of the post of Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD), NMDC Limited assigned to Shri Amitava Mukherjee, Director (Finance), NMDC Limited is extended for a further period of one year w.e.f. 20.11.2024, or till appointment of regular incumbent to the post, or until further orders, whichever is the earliest,” NMDC Limited said in a regulatory filing today.

Mukherjee, a 1995 batch Indian Railway Accounts Service officer, is presently director (finance) at NMDC. Under his leadership, the company made a landmark in production with 45M MT iron ore in the last financial year.

On November 14, 2024, the Public Enterprise Selection Board (PESB) selected Amitava Mukherjee for the post of CMD, NMDC. He has been holding this additional charge since the retirement of Sumit Deb on January 31, 2023.
