Anirudh Tewari, the 1990-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Punjab.
Tewari has superseded four officers – Ravneet Kaur, Sanjay Kumar, V K Janjua and Kripa Shankar Saroj to take his new coveted assignment. The Punjab government has re-designated all the four officials as Special Chief Secretary. Vini Mahajan, whom Tewari succeeded, has also been re-designated as Special Chief Secretary.
The new government headed by Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi considered the names of all four officials and finally picked Anirudh Tewari to head the state administration. He was presently serving as the Additional Chief Secretary in the department of development. He had worked in the agriculture, finance, power and personnel department and delivered much to the expectations.
Tewari, who hails from Patiala, has been more accredited for his role in promoting renewable energy in Punjab.
