The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) held a ‘maha rally’ on Sunday at the Ramlila Maidan in the national capital against the Centre’s ordinance on control of services.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal addressed the rally and targeted the Narendra Modi government. “Today, we gathered to oust a dictator from the country.” Kejriwal fumed. The movement to save democracy in India will soon become successful, he added.

“12 years ago, we gathered here against corruption. This is a sacred stage. Today, we have gathered to oust a dictator from the country. At that time, our movement was successful. This is a movement to end dictatorship, to bring back democracy.”  The AAP convenor said that the Ordinance is sheer disrespect of the people of Delhi. Kejriwal further said that the BJP insult and abuse him every day.

Addressing the gathering, Rajya Sabha Member Kapil Sibal stressed on opposition unity to fight the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. “They talk about double-engine governments but actually it is a double-barrel government with one barrel being CBI and the other ED,” he claimed.

Braving scorching heat, thousands of people gathered at the venue to participate in the “Maha Rally” that was attended by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and senior AAP leaders.
