Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said Baba Guru Ghasidas’ message had always been of peace and harmony in the society.
Sai was interacting with the members of the Satnami community in the backdrop of violence that erupted in Balodabazar on Monday after some miscreants vandalised Jaitkham, a pious symbol of the community near Amar Gufa in Mahkoni village of Giroudpuri. The community follows the Satnam Dharma founded by Guru Ghasidas.
The state government has announced a judicial inquiry into the entire matter. On Tuesday night, Sai held a high level meeting with the senior members of the community and took stock of the situation. He urged the members that it was the responsibility of everyone to ensure no rumours were circulated and move forward together towards establishing peace.
The Satnami community heads said that all the people of the community were hurt by the incident. He said that those who have committed violence and vandalism during the demonstration were anti-social elements and were not part of our delegation. “We are all determined to establish peace and harmony,” they added.
Sai said that the Satnami community had been the follower of Param Pujya Guru Baba Ghasidas. Baba has shown the world the path of truth and non-violence. He said that recently anti-social elements insulted Jaitkham. The government has taken cognizance of this and has also announced a judicial inquiry. Sai said that it was highly condemnable that the incident happened in Chhattisgarh, an island of peace.
The Chief Minister assured the community heads that no innocent would be punished. “All of you had organized this peaceful event to thank the government, in which this incident happened due to the interference of some anti-social elements,” he said.
During the discussion, Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Vijay Sharma informed about the action taken by the government so far in connection with the incident of damaging Jaitkham in the sacred Amar Gufa.
State President of Progressive Chhattisgarh Satnami Samaj Rajendra Prasad Bhatphari said that their society is a follower of Param Pujya Baba Guru Ghasidas ji. “We are people who believe in truth, non-violence and harmony. We believe in Manke-Manke Ek Saman. This incident in Balodabazar district has hurt all of us. We all want peace to be established in the society and understanding our social responsibility, we are eager to work in this direction along with the government,” he said.
