K Omana Amma, mother of retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) official N Baijendra Kumar passed away Saturday evening in Hyderabad.
She was 80 and admitted in a hospital in Hyderabad after getting infected from COVID-19. She finally breathed her last Saturday evening following massive cardiac arrest.
The 1985-batch IAS officer from Chhattisgarh cadre, Baijendra Kumar had settled down in Hyderabad only to take care of mother.
After retiring from National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) as Chairman-cum-Managing Director last year, Baijendra Kumar did not return to his home state Kerala. Instead, he stayed in Hyderabad to keep mother far away from the COVID-19 as the contagious infection was at its peak in Kerala.
But fate willed otherwise.
