On International Men’s Day, BALCO celebrated the diverse identities of the men within its fold—individuals whose compassion, creativity, and dedication not only shatter stereotypes but also inspire a balanced and equitable world.

Men are often seen as symbols of strength and resilience, yet their lives encompass far more than traditional perceptions. Beyond being providers, they are caregivers, mentors, artists, and nurturers.

Take, for instance, Vikas Mahant, a patient attendant at BALCO Hospital. For Vikas, purpose lies in the small yet significant acts of care. “Every day I walk these halls, I feel happy to serve. Helping patients, easing their burdens, and seeing them smile remind me that even the smallest acts of care can bring hope and healing. This keeps me going in life,” he shares.

R Pradeep Panicker, Supervisor, Plant Canteen, views his role as more than just hospitality. “It’s not just about serving food or managing accommodations—it’s about building relationships. I ensure visitors at BALCO have a seamless experience, and seeing smiles on our team’s faces is my greatest satisfaction,” he says.

At home, Ankur Sarkar, Assistant Manager, Operations and Maintenance, finds solace in his connection with his pets. “My parents taught me to respect all life forms. Today, my fish, dog, and birds offer me unconditional love after a long day at work. They remind me of the beauty of pure connections,” he reflects.

For Harish Dewangan, Senior Process Technician, art has been a lifelong companion. “Since childhood, I’ve found solace in painting. My creations teach me patience and help me excel in life. This passion has also brought me recognition, for which I’m deeply grateful,” he recalls.

In the bustling kitchen of the BALCO GET Hostel, Jeet Singh Negi, Chief Chef, takes pride in his craft. “As the aroma of my spices spreads, so does my happiness. Serving over 200 people daily with food that reminds them of home fills me with immense joy,” he shares with pride.

Meanwhile, Hiramani Vaishnav from Potline channels his creativity into poetry. “Some of my poems are inspired by my work at BALCO. Initially, poetry was a personal pursuit, but the encouragement I received from my colleagues transformed it into something I now share with the world. It has added a unique dimension to how people perceive me,” he expresses.

To honour these multifaceted individuals, BALCO organized a series of engaging activities across its operations on International Men’s Day, celebrating men from all walks of life. This celebration highlighted the varied roles men play, both at work and beyond, breaking stereotypes and redefining strength.

As the world observes International Men’s Day, BALCO reaffirms its commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace where every individual, regardless of gender, can thrive. By embracing and celebrating the diverse identities of men, BALCO nurtures a culture of mutual respect, balance, and equality.
