BALCO’s Mega Health Camp brings quality healthcare to rural communities in Chotia

Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), India’s iconic aluminium producer and a subsidiary of Vedanta Aluminium, recently organized a Mega Health Camp in Lalpur village, Chotia, in collaboration with the District Health Department.

Undertaken with the aim of providing primary healthcare services and enhancing the community’s overall
well-being, the camp witnessed an exceptional response with over 330 people turning up to seek medical interventions.

During the camp, a dedicated team comprising doctors, community health officials, rural health coordinators, support staff, and nurses drawn from several primary health centers, sub-health centers, and community health centers together delivered essential health consultation and treatment to the community. They ensured quality healthcare services and the provision of necessary medicines, all of which were provided free-of-cost to the participants.

In addition to providing general health check-ups and consultations, the Mega Health Camp also focused on spreading awareness of Ayushman Card registrations, through which beneficiaries could register themselves for affordable healthcare. Notably, the impact of the camp extended beyond Chotia, reaching 4 Panchayats and 7 villages in the surrounding areas. This allowed numerous residents to access much-needed medical attention and services.

BALCO is focused on serving the community through impactful healthcare interventions under its Project Arogya. The company ensures accessibility of quality primary healthcare services for communities through Rural Health Posts and awareness creation through campaigns on crucial topics such as HIV, Maternal and Child health, and malnutrition. Further, the company also operates a mobile health van every 15 days, effectively addressing healthcare challenges through home visitations. It also organizes mega health camps and awareness campaigns, promoting vaccinations and hygiene practices, while ensuring accessible healthcare through home visits and specialized consultations. Through its curative and preventive services, the company has reached over 44000 individuals in FY23.
