Jagdalpur, July 25
Security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region are up for another battle. Literally, for humanity’s cause.
As the interior pocket of the region infamous for the Maoists activities had been hit by flood, the security forces deployed in the region had emerged as the saviors. Besides recusing people, the personnel have been assisting people even in performing the death rituals. Two incidents in Bijapur are latest in the series.
Due to incessant rains in Bijapur district, 11 members of the Hemla family of village Jhadigutta were trapped in the flood. The family was working in the field and took shelter in the hut located in the middle of the farm as rain lashed. The four children, five women and three men did not get a chance to evacuate.
Soon after receiving the information, Sub Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Abhivan Upadhyay along with the security personnel from the Kutru police station rushed to the spot. The furious flow of flood water posed a serious challenge for the team. With the joint efforts of the SDRF (Nagar Sena) team and the police force, all were safely rescued. They were shifted to their residence in Jhadigutta.
Similarly, the policemen set an example of kindness by helping the family members of Moti Kuhram, who was in a state of shock for losing his infant. Moti Kuhram, resident of village Madpal under Mirtur police station, delivered a baby at Jagdalpur Maharani Hospital. Unfortunately, the baby was born dead.
Moti Kuhram along with his mother was supposed to go to their native village along with the dead infant for performing the death rituals. They however could not sail through the flooded Mirtur Mari river.
The jawans from the Mirtur police station and Nagar Sena rushed for their help. The security personnel helped them to cross the river and perform the rituals.
