BCPL Railway Infra to start bio-fuel production in Bihar

BCPL Railway Infrastructure Limited (BRIL) had been granted provisional stage-I clearance for production of Ethanol from grains like Maize, Rice for blending with petrol.

The permission granted under the Bihar Industrial Investment Promotion Rules 2016 by the Government of Bihar, Department of Industries, Secretariat of State Investment Promotion Board would enable company’s subsidiary BCL Bio Energy Private Limited to apply for other clearances as required under the Bihar Industrial Investment Promotion Rules 2016.

BRIL, formerly known as Bapi Construction Electrical Engineering Private Limited, is engaged in the field of railway infrastructure development, involving design, drawing, supply, erection and commissioning of 25KV, 50Hz Single Phase Traction Overhead Equipment. It would now be venturing into bio-fuel production.

“The project involves the production of Ethanol from grains like maize, rice etc at Purnia, Bihar or any other suitable place. It will be operational in around 14 months and its commercial production is expected to be reflected in the accounts of FY23 onwards,” Aparesh Nandi, Chairman of the BCPL, said in a regulatory filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) today.

“We are hopeful that the other clearances as required under the Bihar Industrial Investment Promotion Rules 2016 will be granted to us by the concerned department very shortly,” he added.

The Installed capacity of the proposed grain-based Distillery would be 60 KLPD of fuel grade ethanol operating for 350 days in a year and producing around 21,000 KL. The diversification would be in line with the Company’s philosophy of contributing in the country’s Foreign Exchange through reduced outflows on fossil fuels. The Project once completed is expected to generate a ROE of about 40 per cent for BCPL on its investment.

The Total project cost at the Subsidiary would be around Rs 80 crore. The Debt Equity ratio of the Project would be around 2.50. The construction activities on the project would commence once land is acquired and the requisite environmental clearance is accorded the Government authorities.
