Bhilai Steel Plant’s mines bag medal

SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant’s Mines have won as many as 13 prizes in the Mines Environment Mineral Conservation (MEMC) 2021-22 awards for Performance of Mines in different categories.

Mines Environment and Mineral Conservation Week was observed in the state of Chhattisgarh from 28th Feb to 5th March 2022 under the guidance of Indian Bureau of Mines, Raipur region. The concluding ceremony was organized by NMDC at Raipur on 8th April 2022.

The chief guest at the ceremony was Sanjay Lohia, IAS as Additional Secretary, Ministry of Mines, Govt of India and Controller General In-charge, Indian Bureau of Mines. Shri Piyush Narain Sharma, Chief Controller of Mines In-charge, Indian Bureau of Mines, Nagpur was present as special guest. Shri Anirban Dasgupta, Director I/c, Bhilai Steel Plant and Shri D K Mohanty, Director (Production) NMDC were also present at the ceremony. Bhilai Steel Plant’s Mines Organisation was represented by Shri Tapan Sutradhar, CGM I/c Mines & Rowghat. 

SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant’s Mines were awarded several prizes.  Mahamaya & Dulki Mines situated in the Plant’s Dalli-Rajhara Iron Ore Complex that won three prizes was awarded the Highest Prize for Best Overall Performance in A2 Group of Mines Environment Mineral Conservation. Mahamaya & Dulki Mines won the First Prize in two categories – Systematic & Scientific Development Category and Sustainable Development Category and Second prize in Publicity & Propaganda Category

Rajhara Mechanised Mines won the First Prize in the Mineral Conservation Category and the Second Prize in Reclamation & Rehabilitation Category. Jharandalli & Dalli Mech Mines won the First Prize in Mineral Beneficiation Category and Third Prize in Reclamation & Rehabilitation Category

Bhilai Steel Plant’s Nandini limestone Mines won the Second prize in Environmental Monitoring Category while Rowghat Mines Project won the third prize in same Environmental Monitoring Category. The Plant’s Nandini limestone Mines also won the second prize in Reclamation & Rehabilitation Category.

Different Mining Organisations in the state had put up their pavilion displays pn the Mines Environment Mineral Conservation subject in an Exhibition organized at the venue. Bhilai Steel Plant’s pavilion was awarded the second prize for its display.
