Raipur, August 26
All is not well in Chhattisgarh Congress. Just a day after returning from New Delhi, Congress leadership had again called Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday.
The development added significance as T S Singh Deo, Chhattisgarh’s Health Minister, had stayed back in New Delhi. He had in fact hinted that he would not be returning to Raipur immediately and could stay in Bhopal.
The Chhattisgarh Congress had been mired in controversy following a so-called power sharing formula haunting the party that came to power after 15 years of BJP rule. Though Congress’ Chhattisgarh in-charge P L Punia had been reportedly saying that there was no 50-50 formula of power sharing between Bhupesh Baghel and T S Singh Deo, a section of ruling party leaders was sceptical.
Singh Deo never raised the issue in public nor hinted at any revolt. A senior Congress leader willing anonymity told News Riveting that he was deeply hurt with the continuous humiliation inflicted by a section, both at the government and organisational level. Even a leader recently levelled baseless allegations against him and later repented for it. Singh Deo never reacted as he felt his act could damage the Congress.
As the tussle increased in the state, the party high command talked to both the leaders in New Delhi on Tuesday. Baghel returned on Wednesday and was accorded a rousing reception at the airport. Baghel claimed the government was working well.
The Congress leadership has again called him to New Delhi on Friday that had flared up political temperature in Chhattisgarh.
