Siblings acting as “bulls” for ploughing the field has pulled Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel’s attention.
Baghel has sanctioned a sum of Rs 4 lakh as financial assistance for the two girls staying in Umargaon of Chhattisgarh’s Kondagaon district. While one is aged 22 years, another has just completed 18—both school dropouts as fiscal constraints prevented them to pursue further education.
Their father Amal Sai is a farmer, fighting misery and deprivation. In order to meet the day’s meal, he decided to sell his agriculture field. His daughters convinced to drop the proposal and started working in the field. The family owned 5 acres of land in the village tucked away unobtrusively in a tribal predominated pocket.
Since the family could not afford to buy bulls for cultivating the land, the two girls took up the task and ploughed the entire field. The Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, the ambitious flagship scheme of Bhupesh Baghel government, facilitated the family to get the best returns for their yield.
The saga of struggle came to the notice of Baghel who asked the Kondagaon district collector to send a detailed report about the family.
After examining it, the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister showed gratitude to grant Rs 4 lakh to the family.
