Raipur, October 4
Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge said Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel never paused state’s development even in adverse situations.
Beginning his speech with ‘Jai Johar, Jai Chhattisgarh Mahtari…’, Kharge addressed “Bharose ka Sammelan” organised in Raigarh district on Wednesday. A ‘Sammelan’ like this has perhaps not taken place in any corner or region of the country, Kharge said.
It’s a matter of pride that the ‘Bharose ka Sammelan’ is being held throughout Chhattisgarh, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, he added. “I have a small suggestion: Instead of calling it the ‘Bharose ka Sammelan’, it should be named the ‘Bharose ke Anushthaan ka Sammelan’, Kharge said, adding that the ‘Anushthaan Sammelan’ is taking place on a large scale in Chhattisgarh, with work being carried out for the welfare of everyone.
They have formulated plans to address the needs of the common people, providing employment opportunities to lakhs and crores of people. “Even in adverse circumstances, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel never paused Chhattisgarh’s development work. My congratulations to all of you,” he added.
Today, development is taking place across Chhattisgarh, and the Congress government is making all possible efforts to empower its people. The Godhan NYAY Yojana has strengthened small-scale industries, leading to increased rural employment and a stronger economy.
In the last five years, more than Rs 1 lakh 75 thousand crores have been directly disbursed to common people through various welfare schemes. “This is why more than 40 lakh individuals have risen above poverty in Chhattisgarh during this period,” Kharge said.
Chhattisgarh Government delivers more than it promises. The number of districts has expanded from 27 to 33 and increased the number of tehsils. People’s income has increased, the Congress leader added.
Kharge, along with Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, laid the foundation stone for ‘Jaitkhams’, to be constructed in 82 selected development blocks during the Sammelan.
In his address, Baghel shared that to spread the teachings of Baba Guru Ghasidas for setting up the Jaitkham model in 82 selected development blocks across Chhattisgarh. He mentioned that Baba Guru Ghasidas and Mahatma Gandhi ji both stressed on following the ‘path of truth’ in their teachings. Baghel highlighted the historical commitment of leaders from Jawaharlal Nehru ji to Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, P. V. Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh to strengthen India and its overall development.
He affirmed that his government continues to follow the path, tirelessly working to enhance the lives of Chhattisgarh’s people, thus driving the state’s comprehensive development.
Baghel said that the state government has made consistent efforts to bolster the economic strength of tribal communities residing in remote forest areas. It includes facilitating the buying and selling of minor forest produce, resulting in Chhattisgarh now collecting three-fourths of the country’s minor forest produce, benefiting 12.50 lakh collectors.
Besides, an insurance scheme named after ‘Shaheed Mahendra Karma’ has been initiated for the welfare of tendu patta collectors. The Chhattisgarh model reflects a commitment to fulfilling promises to all, ensuring the prosperity and well-being of its citizens.
Asserting the state government’s commitment to support farmers by purchasing paddy at the support price, providing an annual financial aid of Rs 7,000 to landless labourers, and fulfilling the promise of free education in the English medium, the Chief Minister mentioned the holistic development of various sections of society, including farmers, youth, labourers, women, and children in Chhattisgarh.
The state government’s strict financial management ensures that public funds are appropriately utilised and reinvested for the benefit of the people, aligning with public interests.
