Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Monday played the biggest electoral card and vowed to waive off farmers’ loan if Congress retain power in the state.
The announcement to waive off farm loan was made by the Chief Minister, Bhupesh Baghel while addressing a public meeting held in Sakti Assembly constituency on Monday. The development add significance as it could turn to swing the farmers sentiments towards Congress in Chhattisgarh that goes to the polls in two phases on November 7 and 17.
The party has played the same card in 2018 state polls. According to political analysts, the farm loan waive off was one of the major factors that helped Congress to trounce 15 years rule of BJP in the state.
Soon after swearing-in as Chhattisgarh Chief Minister, Bhupesh Baghel on December 17, 2018 announced to waive off farm loans amounting to Rs 6,100 crore.
However, Baghel had said in 2019 that the loan waive off was for once and would not be repeated next year. The announcement of the Chief Minister is likely to find place in the Congress election manifesto to be released for the ensuing assembly election.
