Rajeeb Ranjan, Vice President of Bihar unit of BJP on Friday resigned from the primary membership of the party alleging BJP leaders in Bihar were against Dalits, OBCs and EBCs.

State party president Sanjay Jaiswal, however, said Rajeeb has been suspended from the party for six years on charges of indiscipline. Rajeeb had met the Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar yesterday and issued a statement supporting his decision not to give compensation to the families of illicit liquor victims.

Rajeeb told this correspondent here, “I have resigned from the party which I had joined in 2015. Bihar leaders are against the EBCs, OBCs and Dalits. Party programmes are confined to Patna only. Bihar unit of BJP has ignored the programmes and vision of Narendra Modi and became a pocket organisation of few individuals who are exploiting the EBC,OBC and dalit leaders and engaging them as Flag bearers only. Even in Nalanda district, the BJP  has ignored its workers”, Rajeeb said .

After meeting CM, Rajeeb had issued a statement supporting Nitish Kumar who was against payment of compensation to the families of  hooch tragedy in Saran, where over 100 died last week. He said”If we start paying compensation to the families of hooch tragedy victims, there will be demand for compensation to the families of murder and loot accused too. He demanded confiscation of property of liquor mafia and blamed the official machinery at local levels for failure of prohibition in the state.

His statements were against the statements  of BJP leaders,Sushil Kumar Modi,Sanjay Jaiswal and leader of opposition,Sushil Kumar Modi whoa re demanding compensation to the families of the hooch tragedy victims.

Rajeeb ,a former chairman of Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh state Electricity Boards was JDU MLA between 2010 and 2015.He was a class fellow of Nitish Kumar in Bihar Engineering College and shares home district  Nalanda and caste with Nitish Kumar.

Sanjay Jaiswal, president of the Bihar unit of BJP, in a communication to Rajeeb on Friday evening said the party vice president was not following the party line and issuing statements against the policies and programees of BJP. He said Rajeeb was earlier warned for his anti-party stand statements, but he ignored warning. He is speaking against the basic principles of party on liquor issue which was an act of indiscipline. He announced Rajeeb Ranjan was being suspended with immediate effect from the primary membership, vice-president and state media head of the BJP.

Claimed resignation and later his suspension from the party is being attributed to the infighting in the organisation over control by two leaders-Sanjay Jaiswal and Nityanand Rai on the party. These leaders are reportedly hostile to the dominance of Kurmis and traditional Vaishyas in the state unit.
