The examination papers leak scam took an interesting turn on Thursday when the deputy Chief Minister, Vijay Kumar Sinha charged his predecessor Tejashwi Prasad Yadav with facilitating the solvers and main accused in having accommodation in the guest house of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).
His charge was immediately refuted by RJD spokesman and party MP, Manoj Kumar Jha who alleged it was personal assistant of present deputy CM who had requisitioned room at NHAI guest for the scamsters.
But, late in the evening NHAI claimed they have no guest house at Patna. Fact is, NHAI has its guest house opposite Patna Airport for the last 40 years.
Economic offences Unit of Bihar police has arrested 13 people, including seven aspirants. One engineer of the Danapur Municipal Corporation who is being termed as the main accused has also been arrested. Five solvers are also in the police custody.
According to the police, the arrested engineer has admitted he got the question papers a day before the tests conducted by National Testing Agency. Copies of the question papers were sold for Rs 40 lakh per aspirant.
Three students from Bihar who were brought from Kota too have admitted they were given papers in advance. Those arrested have admitted they have expertise in getting the aspirants cleared in the civil services examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.
The NTA is headed by Subodh Kumar Singh, an IAS officer of Chhattisgarh cadre.
