The Bihar Legislative Assembly on Wednesday failed to transact normal business even as Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha resumed his official work on Wednesday after abstaining from the House on Tuesday after heated exchange of words with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

The opposition members demanded the resignation of the Chief Minister and asked him to apologise to the Speaker for the “insult” of the Chair. Speaker had to adjourn the the House thrice before he finally adjourned the House for Thursday.

Chief Minister who had brief meeting with the Speaker last night in the Annexi building of the legislature did not attend the assembly and stayed in his home town, Nalanda.

Vijay Kumar Sinha made a written statement in the House and in an obvious reference to Nitish Kumar’s actions on Monday and his continued absence from the House said, “we should not make a statement or do an action which compels you not to face me (humse najar churane ko majboor nahi hona pade).”

Sinha further commented, “if there is an intention to reform and improve, a man can learn.” He quoted Atal Bihari Vajpayee and said one has to forego ego to move forward.
