The cultural capital of Chhattisgarh got connected with Bhopal by air as the Alliance Air today started a new flight operation on the sector.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel flagged off the take off of a new flight from Bilaspur to the capital of its parent state Madhya Pradesh at a virtual programme from Kanker. The 72-seater ATR aircraft took off from Bilasa Devi Kevat Airport in Bilaspur at 11.35 am and landed in Bhopal at 1.30 pm.
The Bhopal flight would be the second flight from Bilaspur. Alliance Air operates a flight to Prayagraj.
“Today air service was launched from Bilaspur to Bhopal through video conferencing. In Chhattisgarh, we are connecting with different cities of the country at a fast pace. Due to this, the passengers are getting ease, as well as there will be benefits in the business sector as well,” Baghel said in a tweet.
The Chief Minister said the Chhattisgarh government had been focussing on improving the airport infrastructure in the state so that the air connectivity could be expanded. He said new air services had started from Raipur as well as Jagdalpur and Bilaspur in the last three and a half years.
The facility of night landing has also been developed at Bilaspur and Jagdalpur airports. The Chief Minister said plans for the development of a new airstrip in Koriya and a commercial airport at Korba had been in the pipeline. The state government is also developing a runway at Ambikapur airport in Sarguja at a cost of Rs 43 crore.
