BJP activist mocks at Uddhav Thackery’s wife, Mumbai police serve summon

The Mumbai police have issued summons to a BJP activist for mocking at Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s wife that flared up a fresh row erupted between Maharashtra’s ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi led by Shiv Sena and opposition Party.

The BJP is in opposition in the state while its activist posted an objectionable tweet calling Thackeray’s wife as “Marathi Rabri Devi”. The tweet was posted by Jiten Gajaria, who is said to be a part of the BJP’s social media cell. He has been summoned for questioning by the Mumbai Police.

Earlier on Thursday, he was summoned by the Crime Branch CID-Cyber Cell for the offensive tweet that sparked a furore in political and social media circles.

On January 4, Gajaria posted a tweet with a picture of Rashmi U. Thackeray, with the caption: “Marathi Rabri Devi”, referring to the wife of Rashtriya Janata Dal President and ex-CM of Bihar Lalu Prasad. Rabri Devi made global headlines when she was named as the Bihar CM by Lalu Prasad who was forced to quit after his involvement in the fodder scam came to the fore.

In the political forums, it is reported that Rashmi has a direct intervention in the affairs of Shiv Sena. A leading columnist has written that it is she who asked Uddhav to put the demand of sharing CM tenure between BJP and Shiv Sena after the former secured more seats. It finally resulted in the break up.
