The body of a senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader was discovered under mysterious circumstances in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh Monday morning.
Budhram, the former sarpanch of Kilepal and District Secretary of BJP unit, was found dead today morning. The leader went for a morning walk and his body was later discovered near a bridge at around 9 am. The leader had been going for walks daily and it was his daily routine.
When he did not return, the family members enquired. Later, they were informed about the discovery of a body from an under bridge that is about two kilometers from the residence.
According to police officials, they were considering all aspects in the investigation to ascertain whether it was an accident or murder. The body bore rashes and injury marks. The officials said the post mortem report, which was awaited, would reveal the exact cause of death.
The police are also looking into the political angle. Budharam was a senior BJP leader and a strong contender for the party ticket from Chikrakote Assembly constituency.
