BJP President J P Nadda faces students’ wrath in Patna College

Patna, July 30

BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda, who received a grand welcome by the party leaders and workers during the seven-km long road show from JP international airport to JP roundabout at Gandhi Maidan, had to face a hostile mood of students in Patna College, where he was himself a student in the 80s.

Nadda reached here to preside over the meetings of the office-bearers of the different units of BJP who had come to attend the executive committee meeting. He will inaugurate the new offices of the party in 16 districts.

Nadda went to his old Campus, Patna College, where he was a student and his father, N L Nadda was Vice-Chancellor was greeted with Nadda Go Back slogans by a section of students as his convoy entered the college premises on Ashok Rajpath. Police had to intervene to disperse the agitating students, claimed to be the activists of the students wing of Left parties. The students were demanding upgradation of Patna University into a Central University.

Nadda while addressing the teachers in the Seminar Hall assured that he would take up the demand of the students with the Prime Minister. The BJP President addressed a meeting of the BJP Ministers in Nitish Kumar government in a hotel. He also asked the party leaders to concentrate on 200 assembly constituencies and project the different development works started by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.

Bihar assembly has a strength of 243. JDU has 43 members in the House.

For the first time during his stay in Bihar, Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is also coming here on Sunday, will not be able to meet the Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar. Deputy Chief Minister Tarkishore Prasad said since Nitish Kumar was yet to fully recover from COVID, the two leaders may not get an appointment in Chief Minister residence. This was confirmed by the Education Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhury (JDU), who also said there was no programme of the Chief Minister meeting the BJP leaders tomorrow.

During the road show, horse riders, elephants, motor cyclists and hundreds of four wheelers participated. BJP had put 25 welcome arches enroute.
