The Blast Furnace-5 ‘Durga’ of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has surpassed the 21 million tonnes (MT) production mark on Thursday.

The last one MT of Hot Metal has been tapped in 130 days, which makes the average production 7700 Tons per day.

  Atanu Bhowmick, Director In-Charge, RSP has congratulated the employees of Blast furnaces as well as all the associated units for this commendable feat and has said that, “Let’s focus our goal of ‘Becoming the Best’ and trust our capabilities”. 

S R Suryawanshi, ED(Works) has  also congratulated the team for its excellent performance.

It is worth mentioning here that Blast Furnace-5 one of country’s largest operating Blast Furnaces had started hot metal tapping in 2013. The furnace had surpassed 10 Million Tonnes of Hot Metal production in March 2018, followed it up with surpassing 15 Million Tonnes Hot Metal production in February 2020 and 20 Million Ton in January 2022.
