Blast in Chhattisgarh capital, 10-year-old boy injured

Raipur, January 19

A devastating blast rocked Raipur on Thursday evening in a scrap yard, injuring a 10-year-old boy and two others.

The blast in the heart of Chhattisgarh capital created panic in the city. The incident took place at a scrap shop located in the Santoshi nagar area under Tikrapara police station.

Unconfirmed reports said that the boy, probably a child labourer, was handling some can carrying chemicals. As he opened, a blast took place. Reports said even a gas cylinder placed in the yard also burst.

The boy, whose identity could not be known, was critically injured with two others in the incident and have been referred to AIIMS for treatment.

The police have registered an offence and are investigating the matter. The owner of the shop is absconding after the incident even as police claimed to have launched a massive hunt to know his whereabouts.

Initially, one death was reported in the incident that police authorities denied.
