The 13th Tribal Youth Exchange Program (TYEP) was organized under the arrangements of Sector HeadQuarters of Border Security Force (BSF) Koraput in coordination with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) to facilitate youths to accustom with the mainstream of the society.
Since the tribes who are residing in the remote corners of the nation are not having first-hand information about what is happening elsewhere in the country, the NYKS organizes TYEP for the development of tribal youth with the support of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The aim is to provide an opportunity to the tribal youth of 30 selected districts of 07 states for an exposure visit to 10 different places of the country to understand the cultural ethos, language, lifestyles of the people depicting Socio –economic & Cultural Development & Development process unity in the diversity aspect of our national life.
Under the program, 55 Tribal Youths (44 male and 11 female) from the interior and far-flung areas of Bandhugaon, Narayanapatna, Laxmipur, Boipariguda, Lamtaput under Koraput district, where BSF is deployed, were selected for the program. The tour program was organised for the duration of a week from March 30, 2022 to April 5, 2022.
In Jammu, the participants attended various Programmes in the city and visited BOP (Border Out Post) Octroi at Suchetgarh international Border, Manasarovar Lake, Sambha, Patnitop. They participated in Debate and Cultural Competition at Saraswati Dham in Jammu. On April 9, 2022, they returned to the BSF Camp Koraput on completion of the tour.
The closing ceremony was organised on Saturday that was graced by Madan Lal, DIG, Sector BSF Koraput. He interacted with the youths, congratulated and wished good luck to the participants for their future endeavours.
The DIG highlighted the importance of the Tribal Youth Exchange Program and said, “Such events would glorify our national values and enhance our patriotic ethos. The objective of the program is to expose the youths to the technological and industrial advancement that have taken place in different states of the country with focus on various developmental activities, skill development, educational and employment opportunities available and also provides an opportunity to the tribal youths of interior villages to understand the cultural ethos, language, lifestyles of the people depicting socio-economic and cultural development, on-going development process and unity in diversity aspect”.
The youths were highly influenced after interacting with the DIG and extolled the BSF for excellent co-operation, overall care for the safe and secure journey and for the opportunity bestowed. The Female participants also shared the experiences. A girl participant observed, “In our village, only the boys are encouraged to study and they get education. There is a strong gender divide. But I did not notice gender bias in urban areas in India as far as education is concerned”.
BSF always puts its best efforts to take initiative for organizing such programs, thus, it brings a positive impact on the morale and motivation of the youths, inspiring them to achieve something big in life.
