Bus mishap kills 5 in Telangana

Five persons including two children were killed while many were injured when the bus they were travelling in turned turtle near Chintoor in Telangana last night.

The ill-fated bus bearing Chhattisgarh passing registration number CG 27 M 3148 was going to Vijayawada from Bhavani Patnam in Odisha. Sources quoting survivors said the driver was in inebriated condition and lost control over the steering in the wee hours.

In all, 40 passengers were on board the vehicle, which belonged to Sangeetha Travels. The bus skidded off the road and turned turtle; crushing five persons to death. Among the victims included two children. Sources said they died on the spot.

Two bodies have been kept in Bhadrachalam while three bodies had been shifted to Chintoor government hospital mortuary.

The negligence of the driver had been the cause of accident in the preliminary investigation conducted by the Chintoor police. An offence under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) had been registered as detail investigation had been initiated.
