Bus plunges into river in Nepal, 14 Indian killed

Kathmandu, August 23

At least 14 people were killed while 16 others were injured when a bus with an Indian number plate plunged into Marsyangdi River at Anbu Khaireni of Tanahun district on Friday.

The ill-fated bus bearing number plate UP (Uttar Pradesh) FT 7623 was carrying 40 passengers from Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred when it was en route to Kathmandu from Pokhara.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police of the Armed Police Force (APF) Shailendra Thapa, who is also assistant spokesperson of the APF, 14 bodies were retrieved from the crash site and 16 injured were rushed to local hospital. The condition of injured could not be known.

The bus that fell on the river bank has been badly damaged.
