Campaigning for the Assembly elections in Assam, Keralam, and the Union Territory of Puducherry come to an end today. Polling for 126 seats in Assam, 140 in Keralam and 30 seats in Puducherry will be held in a single phase on April 09.
In Assam senior BJP leader and Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed multiple gatherings expressed confidence that the BJP will form the government in Assam for a third consecutive term. He reiterated that the development of every district and region of the state remains a top priority for his party and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). He said the past ten years have been marked by peace and prosperity in Assam.
The Congress has also intensified its campaign in the state. Senior party leader Kumari Selja said the Congress stands for justice and equal rights for all. Meanwhile, other political parties, including the Asom Gana Parishad, Assam Jatiya Parishad, and Raijor Dal, have also stepped up their campaign efforts across Assam.
Puducherry witnessed hectic campaign activity with prominent leaders addressing rallies and public meetings across the Union Territory. Senior BJP leader Amit Shah, Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, and DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin were among those leading the day’s high-voltage campaigning.
In Keralam, the campaign trail remained equally vibrant, with senior leaders from various political parties holding meetings and roadshows across the state.
Polling for all 234 Assembly seats in Tamil Nadu, along with 152 constituencies in the first phase in West Bengal, will be held on the 23rd April. Polling for the second phase in West Bengal will be held on 29th April, covering 142 seats.
Counting of votes for all four states and the Union Territory will take place on the 4th May.
