Valluri Krishna of Hyderabad and Manoj Chopra from Jammu and Kashmir jointly bagged the first prize in the cartoon contest organised by the country’s only magazine on the theme, Cartoon Watch.
Like every year, a cartoon competition was organized by Cartoon Watch on World Environment Day today in collaboration with Chhattisgarh Environment Protection Board. This competition organized online got a good response from cartoonists across the country. Editor of Cartoon Watch Triambak Sharma said that every year the theme of the competition was kept on the topic selected by the United Nations Environment Program – UNEP.
This year UNEP has focused on the damage caused to ecosystems in the world through its theme – Restoration of Ecosystems. According to UNEP, to restore the ecosystem, one has to grow trees, build green cities, allow gardens to be back in their original form, improve food habits, clean rivers and beaches. And have to keep. Today the cities are consuming the forest and the environment is getting imbalanced.
Considering the quality of the entries, the jury member thought it best to divide the first three prizes into two contestants. It is worth mentioning that this competition is organized at all India levels. There is no age restriction in this contest.
The first prize went to Valluri Krishna of Hyderabad and Manoj Chopra of Jammu and Kashmir. They would get a cash of Rs 5000 each as the winners. The second prize carrying Rs 3500 each was bagged by Manoj Kuril of Delhi and Suresh Sawant of Mumbai while third prize went jointly to Mukherjee from Darjeeling and Prashant Kulkarni of Mumbai. They would get a cash of Rs 2500 each.
Besides, the winner of the 20 special awards carrying Rs 1000 each were given to Vaibhav Chaudhary from Bastar, Anand Rajput from Indore, Arun Inamdar from Mumbai, Ashwak from Telangana, Chandrashekhar and Gopinath from Pune, Dinraj and TV Menon from Kerala, Panduranga Rao, Raghupat Sringeri and Nanjunda from Bangalore, Nilsekhara Handa from Bhopal , Ravindra Balapure and Dinesh Dhangwal from Maharashtra, Rohit Shukla from Seoni, Gutulla and Nagishetty from Andhra Pradesh, Prabhushetti from Hyderabad, Nagaushetti from Vijayawada and Suresh Vegga from Karnataka.
Prize money would be transferred online to all the winners along with digital certificates, Sharma said.
