National Investigation Agency (NIA) suffered a dent on its image when Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested its Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy SP) Ajai Pratap Singh posted at its Patna branch on corruption charge.
Two agents of the police officer have also been arrested. CBI said they were nabbed while accepting a bribe of Rs 20 lakh as first instalment of Rs 2.25 crore illegal gratification to help a former MLC of Janata Dal U for her alleged links with Naxalites.
NIA had raided her house at Gaya last week. Rocky, son of the JDU leader was called at Patna to hand over the bribe money to Saala ( brother in law of the NIA official.
The CBI has, in coordination with the NIA, laid a trap on a complaint of corrupt activities by investigation officer of the National Investigation Agency.
The CBI had received an input that one Rocky Yadav, owner of Ramaiya Construction, was alleging corrupt activities of NIA Patna Branch IO, during the course of NIA’s investigation against him.
After verification of the inputs, and acting promptly in coordination with the NIA, the CBI laid a trap.
During the trap, CBI apprehended accused investigation officer, Deputy SP Ajay Pratap Singh, and his two agents while accepting an illegal gratification of Rs 20 lakh from the complainant.
