Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Vijay Sharma Wednesday announced a CBI inquiry into the Biranpur violence in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly.
On April 8, 2023, a meeting was held in the village regarding the incident of assault on four school children of a community by boys of a particular community working in a junk shop of the same village. Bhuvaneshwar Sahu, Bhaikhatal Thakur and Rajaram Sahu had gone on behalf of the locality of a particular community. After the meeting, while coming to Basti, Nawab Khan, Jateet Khan, Bagir Khan, Mukhtar Mohammad, Safika Mohammad, Abul Khan, Akbar Khan, Mohammad Jabhash, Ayub Khan, Nizamuddin, Rashid Khan alias Kallu Khan allegedly laid the plan and brutally attacked Bhuvaneshwar Sahu, Bhekhalat Thakur and Rajaram Sahu with a knife, shovel, brick and stone.
Bhuvaneshwar Sahu sustained serious injuries and died. Bhagirathi Sahu (relative of Bhuvaneshwar) lodged a written complaint naming the 12 accused. The police lodged an offence under sections 147, 148, 149, 336, 307, 302, 120B, Indian Penal Code but allegedly showed laxity in the investigation.
The BJP MLA from Saja, Ishwar Sahu Wednesday raised the issue of the Biranpur incident and sought justice. “I am the father of Bhuvaneshwar and want to know when I will get justice as the police have failed to make any arrest,” he said. Sahu said 36 accused have been named in the Biranpur violence but not all have been arrested yet.
The Chhattisgarh Home Minister said he was overwhelmed that a mighty father like Ishwar Sahu is present in front of them who lost his son. Sharma announced in the House that the state government would recommend a probe by the premier investigating agency, the CBI.
