CBI swoops as RJD Govt seeks trust

Patna, August 24

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials on Wednesday morning started raids at about a dozen places including residences of senior RJD leaders in Jharkhand and Bihar.

The central agency’s action came on the day newly inducted Mahagathbandhan government moves confidence motion in the Bihar assembly. The Mahagathbandhan government comprises Nitish Kumar’s JDU, RJD, Congress and others. The new alliance was necessitated after Nitish Kumar severed tie with BJP-led NDA.

Besides Patna, the CBI teams escorted by the central para-military forces conducted raids in Ranchi, Madhubani, Katihar, Phulwarisharif, Hajipur. Residential premises of two MPs Ashfak Karim and Faiyaz Ahmad, Sunil Kumar Singh, MLC, former legislators, Abu Dojana and Subodh Rai, RJD leader, Prem Prakash are being searched.

CBI is also searching BISCOMAN tower office of Sunil Kumar Singh.

Unconfirmed sources said raids are follow up action of land for jobs scam for which CBI had registered FIRs against 15 people including Lalu Yadav, Mrs Rabri Devi and deputy Chief Minister, Tejashwi Yadav in June this year.

CBI raid at 24 places in Bihar since Wednesday morning. All are RJD leaders, two MPs, treasurer and MLC, former RJD legislators.
