The convention centre and allied buildings at Darbhanga house complex has been certified with a ‘Four-star rating’ under GRIHA (Green rating for integrated habitat assessment).
The certification was conferred in the gracious presence of Secretary-(MoEF&CC), GoI and other renowned dignitaries. The certificate was collected by GM (Town Administration), CCL Rajesh Mohan and Vivek Kumar Manager (TA) in a program organised at New Delhi.
The certificate was given by Leena Nandan, Secretary, MoEF & CC, Vibha Dhawan, President, GRIHA Council and Sonam Wanchuk (Environmentalist).
GRIHA is an initiative of Ministry of New & Renewable Energy and The Energy Resource Institute. GRIHA is a rating tool that evaluates the environmental performance of a building holistically over its entire life cycle, thereby providing a definitive standard for what constitutes a ‘green building’.
This building having prestigious certification of 4 star Griha rating has covered area of 12090.00 square metres. This building has two parts-one is convention centre having an auditorium of 608 persons capacity and other is CCL Bhavan having the offices of all Functional directors.
The building has used the sustainable and green materials like fly ash, LED lightings, Variable refrigerant flow system etc. It has installed solar system having generation capacity of 50 KW. The building is energy efficient and equipped with safety features.
This building is a step towards meeting the obligation of sustainable development goals (SDG’S).This is an example of development projects maintaining the least adverse impact on climate.It helps in reducing the carbon emissions approximately 92.49 by tonnes/year of carbon dioxide equivalent and can be one of the asset for getting carbon credits for the organisation in near future.
CMD CCL P M Prasad expressed delight on the certification and stated that this rating is a testament of company’s commitment for sustainable development and eco-friendly initiatives.
