The Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board (CECB) along with Kalinga University organized a debate and youth parliament on the impact of personal behavior and habits on environment and climate change.
The event was organised in the campus of Kalinga University located in Nava Raipur. The program was inaugurated by the Chancellor of Kalinga University, Dr R Sridhar. Speaking on the occasion, he called upon the youth to come forward to save nature.
Dr Anita Savant, Senior Scientific Officer with the CECB, stressed for changing the lifestyle and making it environment friendly.
The Public Relations Officer of CECB, Amar Prakash Sawant asserted that small initiatives can make a big difference. He said people should avoid plastic polythene and use cloth or jute bags instead; a minor effort that inflicts major dividends.
At the onset of the competition, the students and teachers were given an oath of environmental protection. In all, 30 students from Kalinga University, Amity University, IIIT-Raipur, Ravishankar University, Mahendra Karma University and Bhilai Institute of Technology participated in the event.
Of them, 10 will be selected and sent to New Delhi for the East Zone competition scheduled to be held on June 1 and 2.
