After nearly a week, the Raipur police have finally solved the mystery behind the brutal murder of an 8-year-old girl with a arrested of a 14-year-old boy who strangulated her after physically molesting in the heart of Chhattisgarh capital.
The girl, staying in Saddu locality under Vidhan Sabha police station limits, went missing on December 7. Treating it a case of missing, the police allegedly showed laxity initially in proceeding with the investigation. On Tuesday night, the police discovered the girl’s body in an open ground inside bushes at the outskirts of the Saddu Housing Board colony. The body was packed in a sack and covered with newspaper.
The police could recover the body that was decomposed on a tip off. The development created a sensation in the Chhattisgarh capital as senior police officials swung into action and started the investigation with a fresh angle. The matter got complicated when the postmortem report revealed the girl was raped and strangulated to death.
The investigating team examined the close circuit cameras in the locality and received the first break by spotting the girl moving with a boy. The team grilled a few minors and drug addicts. Finally, they nabbed a boy who had been staying in the same block. During thorough interrogation, the boy revealed the sensational incident and confessed the crime.
The police officials said in the pretext of plucking flowers and vegetable, the accused took her to an isolated place and raped. To cover up the incident, he killed her and packed the body in a box and placed it in the open ground inside the bushes.
The police have arrested the boy and lodged an offence under sections 302, 201 and 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 4,6 of POCSO act
