Four members of a family were killed while over a dozen were injured when the car they were travelling in met with an accident in Chhattisgarh’s Jashpur district late Sunday evening.
The 10 members of the family were returning from the outing organized to celebrate the New Year. The bash turned into a tragedy for the family hailing from Taraipara of Jashpur—about 45 km from the Chhattisgarh capital.
Sources said the members were returning to Jashpur after the celebration when the mishap took place in the Bane Ghat under Narayanpur police station. The driver lost control over the steering while negotiating the ghat and the car skipped the road before dashing into a tree.
The passerby informed the police and evacuated the trapped passengers. Sources said one person died on the spot while two children and a woman succumbed to their injuries while being treated in the hospital. The victims include a father and a son.
Of the six injured, the condition of two was reported to be critical. They have been referred to Ranchi hospital in Jharkhand for better medical care.
