Five school children were killed while seven others were injured when a speeding truck collided with the auto they were travelling in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh.

The tragic incident took place between Korer and Bhanupratappur on Thursday afternoon while the children were returning from the school in the auto-rickshaw. A speeding truck collided with the auto. The impact of the collision was so severe that the auto tossed several feet and mangled.

According to police sources, five children died on the spot itself. The police party along with the medical team reached the spot soon after getting information and arranged to shift the injured to the Kanker government hospital.

The condition of a couple of children was reported to be critical.
