Asserting not a single shady deal has taken place in the nine-year-rule of Narendra Modi government at the Centre, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday contended that corruption is in full throttle in the Congress-ruled states in the country.
Addressing a public meeting in the steel city of Bhilai on Thursday afternoon, Shah drew attention to the achievements of the Narendra Modi government in the last nine years. “Modi ji ran such a transparent government during his 9 years rule that even the opposition could not allege corruption,” Shah said. Sonia-Manmohan’s government lasted for 10 years and was marred by scams and corruption, Shah said.
He alleged that corruption to the tune of Rs 12 lakh crore had taken place during Congress’ tenure. The Union Home Minister said 1000 farmers have committed suicide while over 5000 rape incidents had happened in the state that is geographically small. “The Modi government bought 92 lakh metric tonnes of paddy while the state government is taking the credit, ” he said, adding that the Modi government gave Rs 74,000 crore for the farmers of Chhattisgarh while the state government disbursed only Rs 12,000 crore.
While the central government is buying the paddy from the farmers, the Congress government is involved in scams, Shah said. He added that many scams that included liquor, coal transportation levy, Garib Anna Yojana scam, Public Service Commission scam had taken place in the Bhupesg Baghel government’s regime while lakhs of youths were asked money for jobs.
Referring to Chhattisgarh’s identity as Lord Shri Ram’s maternal house, Shah sought audience opinion whether Lord Shri Ram’s temple should be built in Ayodhya or not? For 70 years, the Congress has been hanging the Shri Ram temple issue and making it more complicated. “Modi ji did Bhoomi Pujan of Shri Ram temple and the Lord Ram will sit in Ramlala temple by January 2024,” Shah said.
The Union Home Minister added that even on Jammu and Kashmir issue, Congress misguided. Rahul Gandhi used to say the abrogation of Article 370 from Kashmir would result in bloodbath. But not a single stone was pelted, Shah added.
Lashing out at the Bhupesh Baghel government in Chhattisgarh, Shah said the Chief Minister ducked the promises he had made before the elections. He had announced prohibition of alcohol but started home delivery of liquor. Shah said Congress promised to give 10 lakh jobs to the youths but failed to keep the promise.
In the meeting, which is seen as a kickoff of the BJP’s electioneering in the state that goes to the polls later in the year, Shah appealed to people to vote for BJP in the 2023 assembly elections and 2024 general election. “I have visited 17 states and the mood of the people is to reelect Narendra Modi as Prime Minister for another term,” Shah said.
Earlier, Shah visited the residence of Padma Shri awardee Usha Barle located in Sector 1 of Bhilai Steel Plant township. During the award ceremony, Shah had promised her to visit house when he comes to Chhattisgarh.
The 45-year-old popular singer once used to sell flowers for income. The visit of Amit Shah was part of Maha Jansampark Abhiyan of the BJP.
