Chhattisgarh BJP at Bhupesh Baghel’s door

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had sought appointment of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel for parley over the pandemic.

“The party had written a letter to the Chief Minister seeking appointment for Sunday,” the BJP spokesperson said. A delegation led by party’s state unit chief Vishnu Deo Sai would meet the Chief Minister and discuss the steps taken by the state government to combat COVID and vaccinate the people, the spokesperson said.

The delegation that would also include Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik, former ministers Brijmohan Agrawal and Ajay Chandrakar besides Raipur Member of Parliament Sunil Soni would give suggestions to the state government for working with more sensitivity in handling the situation, the party spokesperson added.

The main opposition party had planned to conduct the similar exercise at the district headquarters. “The District President along with Member of Parliament and Legislators would meet the Collector in their respective district and apprise them of the party’s concern over vaccination drive and suggestions,” the spokesperson said.

The Chief Minister had discussed the COVID situation with his party leaders and elected representatives of ruling Congress before the surge in the second wave of pandemic.

The state government spokesperson could not be contacted to ascertain the response on BJP’s letter.
