Over 14.5 million tonnes paddy worth Rs 29,599 crore procured from 25 lakh farmers

Chhattisgarh has surpassed the previous record of paddy procurement by purchasing over 14.5 million tonnes (MT) from the farmers in the state during the current kharif marketing season 2024-25.
In 2023-24, Chhattisgarh had procured 14.49 MT of paddy that was a new record set in the state. “This year till date, the figure of paddy purchase has crossed 14.5 MT that surpasses the previous record,” a state government spokesperson said.
The process of paddy purchase that started from November 14, 2024 is continuing uninterrupted and will conclude on January 31, 2025. Food department officials said that 25 lakh 13 thousand farmers of the state have sold paddy. So far, Rs 29,599 crore has been paid to the farmers under the bank linking system in lieu of paddy purchase.
Along with paddy procurement, paddy is being lifted at a fast pace for custom milling. So far, DO and TO have been issued for lifting 11 MT of paddy. Against which more than 8.7 MT of paddy has been lifted.
Token facility for paddy sale in Kharif marketing year 2024-25 has been made available to all the registered farmers of the state through online app (Token Tunhar Hath) and procurement centers till January 25, 2025. Farmers can sell paddy as per rules by selecting the date as per convenience.
In all, 27.78 lakh farmers have been registered by the state government for the current Kharif year. It includes 1.59 lakh new farmers. The state government has set a target of purchasing 16 MT of paddy.
Besides the minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 2300 per quintal, the farmer will get Rs 3100 for a quintal of yield sold to the government. The MSP is instantly paid to the farmers while the remaining amount of Rs 800 will be paid as input subsidy.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has announced to pay the difference amount next month.
